Webinar Course Description:

Clinical Applications of Dental-Dedicated MRI (ddMRI):

Dental-Dedicated MRI, although conceptually anticipated for almost a decade, has recently seen the unveiling of a new prototype that advances the idea into an exciting reality for all dental practitioners. This lecture will guide the audience through the basics of MR physics, the different magnetic strengths used in Open MR machines, higher magnetic strength MR systems, and compare them to ddMRI machines. Clinical applications of ddMRI devices will be discussed for diagnostic tasks specific to the Oral and Maxillofacial region.

Applications of CBCT for the general dentist and specialists:

Now in its third decade in the US, CBCT has become common in general dental practices and for dental specialties. Improvements such as dose reduction, limited-field-of-view scans, artifact reduction, and other advances have increased its value as an important imaging tool. This lecture will showcase various diagnostic and treatment planning tasks that have made CBCT the preferred choice for general dentists and dental specialists.

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

Clinical Applications of Dental-Dedicated MRI (ddMRI):

  1. Understand the basic concepts of Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
  2. Understand the potential applications of ddMRI to dental practice.
  3. Comparison of ddMRI to current imaging modalities, including MRI, CBCT, and plain film imaging.

Applications of CBCT for the general dentist and specialists:

  1. Basic concepts of CBCT.
  2. Advances in CBCT technology.
  3. Diagnostic applications for CBCT in general and specialty practice.
  4. Treatment planning applications for CBCT in general and specialty practice.
